The Chelba washing station is located at Sidama region of Southern Ethiopia. This is one of the most renowned growing regions in the world. The station processes up to 1,500,000 kg ripe coffee cherries each year. It is certified by Organic and Rainforest alliance with its 696 small holder’s farmer groups who bring their ripe cherries for processing. Farmers around Chelba have trees at elevations ranging from 1850-2200 meters above sea level, plentiful rainfall and fertile soil that makes the coffee grown in this area so remarkable.

The coffee feature special character and unique cup profile. The cup is cherry, chocolate and dense with fruit forward notes of fresh berries and lemons with a rich orange.

Chelelektu is kebele, or town, where it is located in the Kochere district of the Yirgacheffe coffee area of the Gedeo Zone.

The washing station receives its cherries from the communities mainly are small holders. Theses farmers have a maximum of 2 hectares to grow their coffee. The cherries are carefully sorted and placed on raised beds designed to ensure proper air circulation and temperature control for an optimal drying process. Cherries are also turned regularly on the beds to prevent damage during the drying process.

It has the ideal topography, elevation, and water sources to produce and process exceptional coffees. It is known for sweet flavor and aroma with a light to medium body. It’s caramel and delicate. It also has a honey sweetness of floral notes. It’s gentle and comforting.

Gedeb is one of the districts, also called woredas, of the Gedeo zone, The nearby Yirgacheffe woreda gives this coffee region its name.

Yirgacheffe has the ideal topography, elevation, and water sources to produce and process exceptional coffees. This region is located inside of the Southern Nations, Nationalities, and People’s Region (SNNPR) of Ethiopia, Coffee farmers in Yirgacheffe are typically small-scale landholders, sometimes farming only a few hectares.

This coffee from the Banko Gotiti kebele is grown at an elevation between 2000-2200 meters, where the coffee is harvested. The growers from the surrounding community bring their cherries to the washing station at in Gedeb, Yirgacheffe for further processing.

Lemon-grass, berries, chocolate, and orange peel are all present in the flavor in varying degrees. A delicate cup with sweet, fruity, and floral overtones. With some amazing complexities, this cup is clear, silky, and exotic. It has a lovely blueberry scent to it. Although it has a smooth, creamy, and clean body, a faint lemony acidic sparkling note is still present.

Yirgacheffe is considered by many to be the birthplace of coffee and the coffee trees grown in the region are a naturally occurring heirloom varieties.

The flavor has many layers of lemon-grass, berries, chocolate, and orange peel. A delicate cup fruity floral and sweet tones. Clean, smooth and exotic cup with some awesome complexities. The aroma smells like floral blueberries. Its body is smooth, rich and clean, but still retains a little lemony acidic sparkle note.

It is located in the town of Shantawene, part of the Bensa Woreda, in the Sidama region of Ethiopia. The region is well known for having ideal climate condition for growing coffee. This is all due to high altitudes, between 2,000-2,200 meters, ample rainfall, optimal temperature and rich soil. This coffee is high quality coffee with flavor like sweet lemon, floral and pleasant citrus notes.

Specialty coffee can be filled with complexity, especially when it comes to achieving optimal results that encompass excellent tasting notes, acidity, sweetness, aftertaste, balance, and everything in between. 

Cupping is essential in deciding what coffees will be purchased to be featured to customers.

We have a professional, Q certified Cupper and a well-equipped modern coffee laboratory both for our internal coffee testing as well as a medium for our buyers to test our specialty and conventional coffee types to measure the standard. 

We invite local and foreign buyers to have entertaining coffee cupping session where groups dissect the flavors and aromas of different coffee varieties or brewing methods creating great activity to get bums off seats and encourage engagement between different teams across the workforce, local and international buyers.

Located in Gelan, Addis Ababa, our dry processing mill warehouse uses the latest machines and technology.
